OMEPA is continually working for our Oklahoma industry each month with new events.  This past month we have had several events that have taken place that I would like to share with you as our members of OMEPA.

First, OMEPA is excited to announce that we are having our 6th Annual OMEPA Conference on October 10th and 11th, 2023, at the Embassy Suites of Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City.  At this year’s conference, we will have guest speakers representing Medicare, Medicaid, Oklahoma managed-care insurance contractors, and state and federal representatives, in which you will have opportunities for those unique conversations.  You may register and receive more information at our new and recently updated OMEPA Website.  Please bookmark our website at www.OMEPAok.com to receive current and upcoming information.  This website is your local resource for information that affects our Oklahoma industry with state and federal events.  Our new website now has a member login feature that allows only members to see our previous and current information without allowing non-members to have access.  Please check and update your email and password with our OMEPA webmaster, Gary Duncan, at gary@acorporateimageinc.com, or call him at (501) 225-5424.

This month we have conducted several visits with our Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, Glen Mulready, Oklahoma US Senators James Lankford, and Markwayne Mullins, and one of our five US Representatives, Stephanie Bice, to gain and to continue receiving their support with new and upcoming changes that are happening in our industry.  I am happy to report that these offices are supporting us 100% in our efforts to continue to provide home medical equipment services to the citizens of Oklahoma.

Some of the challenges that our Oklahoma DME providers are facing in January 2024 are as follow.

  1. Medicare Advantage (MA) Part C networks,
  2. January 2024 rate cuts for Medicare reimbursements in the non-rural areas.
  3. The upcoming implementation of the OHCA Managed Care programs and their networks affecting state Medicaid programs.
  4. The final passing of the Patient’s Right of Choice bill (HB 1712) and the 2024 Oklahoma Senate session.

Our industry is constantly changing, and OMEPA rises to the challenge to help keep you informed and encouraged while we work together to inform and influence those in leadership with the quality of healthcare services for our Oklahoma citizens.

Please mark your calendar for our next “Open OMEPA Board meeting scheduled for September 12, 2023.  Attending these open board meetings gives our members the opportunity to view the working inner parts of OMEPA. It allows you the opportunity, during the board meeting’s new business section, to ask questions or make comments.   More information will be posted on the website regarding the open board meeting’s login information within the coming weeks.

As always, we are very grateful for your OMEPA support.
